Meson Castellano

Meson Castellano,  Probably THE Best Place for Steak Lovers in South of Tenerife.

Meson Castellano has such a sophisticated selection of steaks; from Spanish Wagyu, Swiss, German, Spanish Bull, Spanish Brown, to melt in your mouth Filet Mignons, and USDA Ribeyes as good as you get in the States. This is probably THE best place for steak lovers in South of Tenerife.
Not forgetting their other variety of meat of roasted leg of lamb, such tender lamb cutlets, suckling pig, veal, fresh fish and chicken, you definitely will not regret paying slightly higher prices for the quality and consistency time after time.

Array of fresh fish to select from at Meson Catellano

Or select from their live seafood tank

Freshly made desserts

Cured meat area

Salted fish being served.
Fantastic- not salty at all contrary to what it may appear.
And definitely perfectly filleted tableside.

Camarones or Cariden is tiny tiny shrimp served as pictured.
If you have the patience to peel these tiny crustaceans, you’ll appreciate the sweetness that you won’t find on larger ones.
Only available when in season at Meson Castellano.

Very best Iberian Ham at the Meson Castellano

Iberian ham is a classic in Spain and in Portugal. You can find them in most Spanish restaurants. What makes these so special here at Meson Castellano is not only the high quality but a master shaver who carves it so perfectly thin. If you don’t like cured ham, try their beef version (cecina). We liked the unexpected sweetness unlike slight saltiness of other cheaper Iberian hams.

Thoroughly enjoyable Hearts of Lettuce Salad at the Meson Castellano

Hearts of Lettuce Salad-
We order this almost all the time as our starter to share. Beautifully presented are fresh hearts of lettuce with 2pcs of smoked salmon, 2pc of cod, 2pc of anchovies and fresh tuna in the middle. Tomatoes, red onions, and olives are served to round off a great starting dish.

Grilled Asparagus-
It’s a perfect accompaniment to our steaks.

Most excellent stuffed peppers with the Lamb

Stuffed with Lamb-
Excellent sauce along with very tender lamb meat inside the sweet red pepper.
Highly recommend if you get the chance!

An excellent Roasted Leg of Lamb is lightly seasoned with herbs

Lamb Cutlets

Perfectly Grilled Lamb cutlets were so tender. Seasoned with salt only, I ended up eating with my fingers so as not to leave anything on the bones.

Turbot at Mesona Casteallano

Though this grilled Turbot was cooked to perfection, it was not the fish I like for me. Overall taste was rather bland like it was missing something.

Filet Mignon at the Meson Castellano

Filet Mignon-
Can you see those grill marks? Ask however you want them cooked and Meson Castellano will get it just right.
These filet mignons literally melt in your mouth!

For the serious carnivores, select from the meat case and grill them at the table-side, like below!
Fresh meat perfectly aged from the meat cooler are amazing. Not only will you get a fantastic selection of beef to share and impress your guests but also a lasting memory they can take back with them.
Last year, Meson Castellano brought these mouth-watering seared steaks with table-side burners but this year, they replaced the burners with hot plates.
No matter how you like your steak, you won’t get it wrong here as you cook them yourself to your own liking!

I am looking to get some advice from Tenerife locals and expats – we are planning to film a Channel4 show in a few weeks on the island and we would love to include advice from residents about what to do, where to eat, where to shop and how to get the most for your money.
The programme is looking at ways to save money and still have a fantastic holiday, and I'm a great believer in 'doing as the locals do' so any advice would be brilliant.

If you have any suggestions of great value restaurants away from the main tourist areas, activities that can't be missed, or just quirky Tenerife-isms that need a mention, or if you know someone that would be great at guiding our presenter around your beautiful island, I'd love to hear from you –

    Best wishes,
    – L.J. Stacey

Love Meson Castellano! We go there quite often for a good cebon. Lovely restaurant. The owner and his son Aitor are very friendly.

I completely agree! They are great, both quality of food and variety, service and the owners. Our favorite server is Pedro who always takes real good care of us.
